BHQ-2的吸光度为579 nm，有效吸光度范围为550-650 nm。它是与在可见光范围（557-617 nm）的黄橙色部分发射的荧光染料配对的猝灭剂。这组染料的发射光谱与BHQ-2的吸收光谱充分重叠，使后者能够高效地熄灭前者的荧光。
The absorbance of BHQ-2 is 579 nm, and the effective absorbance range is 550-650 nm. It is a quenching agent paired with the fluorescent dye emitted from the yellow orange part in the visible light range (557-617 nm). The emission spectrum of this group of dyes fully overlaps with the absorption spectrum of BHQ-2, so that the latter can efficiently extinguish the fluorescence of the former.
